Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Monday, 28th December 2009



Vaikuntha Ekadashi, also known as ‘Periya Ekadasi’ or ‘Mukkoti Ekadasi’ and in Kerala as ‘Swargavathil Ekadasi’ is one of the most sacred festivals of the Vaishnava tradition. In 2009, Vaikuntha Ekadasi occurs on Monday, 28th December.

Whoever offers pooja at a Vishnu temple on this auspicious day is sure to gain the grace of the Lord. Scriptures say that the doors of Vaikuntha are opened on this day and people who pass through the ‘Swarga Dwara’ or ‘Vaikuntha Dwara’ at anny Vishnu temple on this Ekadasi will attain Moksha, the highest goal of life.
